Late Nights, Big Realizations, and the Return to Writing

Last week, I got a last-minute invitation to speak at a conference. Cue the late-night scramble. I was up way too late building slides, tweaking ideas, and trying to shape something meaningful out of the chaos in my head. By the time I finally crashed, I wasn’t even sure what words were going to come out of my mouth the next day. I just knew that if I didn’t get a little sleep, the version of me who walked on stage would be more… unfiltered than usual.

Running on fumes and caffeine, I hit the road that morning and—divine timing—I ended up listening to an old Seth Godin interview on the Design Better podcast. He was talking about writing daily. Blogging daily. And wow, did I feel seen.

Back in the day, writing was my whole world. I wrote copy for thousands of people—messages that landed deals, booked stages, converted clients. And slowly, I started to resent it. Not because the writing wasn’t good. It was good. But I felt invisible behind it. Like I was handing people gold and getting a thank-you card in return.

Eventually, writing turned into my hideout. It became a screen to stand behind instead of a place to step forward.

And here’s the truth I’ve had to face: I was hiding because I was scared.

Scared no one would care what I had to say.
Scared my words wouldn’t land unless they came through someone else.
Scared that maybe I was too much… or not enough.

That if I poured myself onto the page and no one read it, it would somehow mean I didn’t matter. And if they did read it and didn’t get it? That might hurt even worse.

If you’ve been around me at all—online or off—you know I’m not short on opinions. But I also try hard to lead with kindness. We live in a world that misreads nuance at lightning speed. That has made me cautious. I’ve held back from posting about the deeper conversations I’m actually having with clients every day because context is hard to capture in a single post.

And then, Seth dropped this:

“Everyone should have a blog even if no one reads it and you should blog everyday even if no one reads it, even if you write under and assumed name. And the reason is simple, if you go to bed knowing you have to write something in the morning it will become a productive opening for you. If you know that you need to make assertions of how the world is, promises about how you will make the world it will make it more likely that you will keep those promises. If you can describe in writing the change you seek to make and who you seek to change just the act of computerizing it will keep you on track.”

Gut punch. Right there in the car. In the rain. On my way to talk about what I believe—and realizing I wasn’t practicing the very alignment I preach.

Here’s where the brain science comes in.

One of the things I teach my clients is a tool called “brain priming.” It’s simple: you write out your ideal life, your goals, and your dreams—as if they’ve already happened. It gives your brain a target and tricks it into making those big, bold steps feel less terrifying. Because your brain doesn’t differentiate between imagined and real—it just follows the pattern.

It’s the neuroscience behind manifestation. You envision it, believe it’s happening, and then you start aligning your actions in the real world to catch up with the version of you who already did the thing.

So, here’s the shift: I’m writing again. Every day.

Not because I need followers.
Not because I want to be heard above the noise.
But because this is my way to stay true to myself. To what I teach. To the change I’m here to create.

If you were to start a daily writing habit, what would you share? What thoughts would you stop hiding behind?

I’m all in.

To showing up, more alignment, and a little everyday magic—
